EGGSHELL SKULL by Bri Lee – Our Review
EGGSHELL SKULL by Bri Lee
This book is self-described by the author, Bri Lee, as a memoir about standing up, speaking out and fighting back.
It does all that and more. Bri Lee is a young woman who shares her story of sexual assault and her fight for justice which is all too familiar to many women.
As a Judge’s Associate, Bri Lee has a unique professional understanding of the justice system but is challenged when she becomes the complainant and is on the other side.
Bri Lee opens up her life for us, teaching us about the legal system- the good, the bad and the ugly. The emotional trial that burdens people as they navigate through to find justice. Through her memoir, Bri Lee exposes her life in all its messy rawness. She shares the impact sexual assault has on survivors, her struggle with an eating disorder and the emotional scars that remain.
What Bri Lee does, through writing with complete vulnerability is give strength, power and belief to others who have been through trauma of their own or stood in support of a loved one.
Bri Lee is someone who inspires, and I would not be surprised if this is the first of a number of books by her, one gets the impression that she has much more wisdom and life to share.
Highly recommend this book to men and women alike.
