Best of Friends by Kamila Shamsie – Our Review

Our Review…

Zahra and Maryam have a lifetime of friendship together, all the pitfalls, joy, betrayal and redemption. Starting at 14 year olds in Karachi as the dictatorship is overthrown and life changes forever, fear of retributions and loyalties questioned, a very dangerous time as families try to restart lives.

Years later in London as two successful expats an unexpected reminder surfaces of a very traumatic event that they thought they had left behind for good. This has to be dealt with but now they have power to make decisions where as young girls they were helpless. After ‘Home Fire’, I have followed this exceptional author who captures relationships, especially between women and the often difficult life in todays world, especially ethnic races that have to cope in the Western world.

Uplifting as always, Loved it.
