Doom Creek by Alan Carter – Our Review
‘Doom Creek’, is the riveting new book in the Nick Chester series with the first book, ‘The Marlborough Man’ winning the Ngaio Marshall Award, a prestigious New Zealand award for excellence in crime writing.
Doom Creek can be read as a stand alone, but I was so intrigued by the main character Sargeant Nick Chester that after a couple of chapters I felt compelled to source the first book, to read immediately after I’d finishing this one!
Set in the beautiful New Zealand countryside, Nick Chester is out of hiding after surviving the gangstas with a hit out on him and is enjoying the quiet country cop life when things start to escalate.
An interconnected cold case, feuding neighbours sifting for gold and a radicalised religious gun loving American tribe setting up in town all make for a riveting crime thriller written in a brilliantly vivid style.
