Piranesi by Susanna Clarke – Our Review
‘Piranesi’ by Susanna Clarke is a majestic, striking and incredibly intriguing new novel that is unlike anything else I’ve read in some time.
Set in an alternate reality, the narrator Piranesi is a quirky character that lives in a labyrinth type building of endless rooms and corridors.
Piranesi lives to explore the house, including an ocean that billows and storms throughout and the thousands and thousands of unique statues that adorn the hallways.
Twice a week, Piranesi meets with the only other human in the house, a man called ‘The Other’ who is known for his secret and great knowledge.
But as Piranesi explores his hypnotic reality, he becomes perplexed at the revelation of another person in the building and an unravelling at the possibility of a world far beyond the one Piranesi has always known.
Fantastical, all encompassing and a magical escape that will leave your mind stretched and astounded.
