A king tide uncovers the body of a girl who disappeared years ago. She’s not the first person to go missing from this seaside town, but does that mean the two events are connected? Detective Harper Lewis has recently moved from the big smoke and her job in solving the mystery (or mysteries) is not made easy by the fact that it seems everyone in Lagunes Bay has something to hide.

At first glance Luke Johnson’s debut novel reads like a lot of Aussie crime – tragedy comes to small coastal town full of secrets. But this gripping tale takes you places you don’t expect to go, as it tackles not just the solving of the crime at its core but delves into a world of friendships, relationships, family tragedy, mental health issues, the expectations we place on ourselves and others and the realities of life in a small town. It sounds like a lot – but that just makes this intriguing page-turner all the richer.
