Maybe A Fox by Kathi Appelt and Alison McGhee

Our Review…
Maybe a Fox is a beautiful, charming, emotional book about the bond that two young sisters have. Jules is eleven and Sylvie is twelve and they live with their dad. They both love collecting rocks and Sylvie likes to run, really fast. Whilst out in their garden, building a snow family, Sylvie runs off alone, against her sister’s wishes, to throw a rock in the river. Sylvie never comes back.

At the same time that Sylvie disappears, a beautiful baby fox is born and as she grows, she too likes to run. So when Jules and the fox meet, Jules thinks that just maybe, her big sister has been reborn – this time as a fox.

I loved the characters, I loved the fox and I loved the way the human world and the animal/nature world intersect. I loved the way this book deals with sisterly love and grief but also magical mysticism and above all, hope.
