Riptides by Kirsten Alexander- Our Review
This new novel from Kirsten Alexander is a thrilling and emotional drama set in Brisbane at end of 1974.
Abby Campbell is a super Mum, she’s responsible, clever and has a bursting maternal heart for all those around her.
Unlike his sister, Charlie, is a happy-go-lucky wanderer who has spent the last few years enjoying the freedom of a life in Bali. The sun, surf and beer flowing freely have been the most serious thing about Charlie’s life… until now.
Finally, after much convincing Charlie is home for Christmas. Soon to become, a Christmas to remember.
The siblings are on a road trip, the journey swiftly becoming a tragedy when they swerve into the path of another car, causing the other car to barrel into a tree.
The mysterious pregnant driver is killed on impact, and Abby and Charlie make the life changing and unforgivable decision to flee the scene of the accident.
Charlie and Abby have no idea how this one decision will ripple through their lives, how keeping this secret will pull them into darkness and how their lives are spinning out of control.
I spent much of this novel with my heart beating out of my chest, I was taken along with Charlie and Abby all the way to the end and I loved every page.
