The Believer: Encounters with Love, Death & Faith by Sarah Krasnostein – Our Review
If you loved The Trauma Cleaner by Sarah Krasnostein, then her new book The Believer is one you will absolutely love. This book is one of the most enthralling and engaging non-fiction reads I have read this year, it is pure brilliance.
Following the lives of six very different people and the power of belief, Sarah has such an incredible way of telling other people’s stories. Exploring the what, who and why of their beliefs and delving into the belief systems that serve them.
The book is a masterpiece of stories, we hear from a woman who has tells of the UFO encounter that forever changed the trajectory of her life, to the lives lived by a literal six day creationist and then come to know the ghost hunters who are in tune with the spirit world.
We sit with a woman who spent half her life in prison for simply protecting the life of her child, and yet despite this still believes in a loving God to the woman who holds the hand of the dying and gain a glimpse into the life of an off the grid Mennonite.
Together, the narratives make for a brilliant snapshot into the world of others and will leave you reflecting on the experiences that have shaped your own life and understanding of the world.
