The Great Escape from Woodlands Nursing Home by Joanna Nell – Our Review
The Great Escape from Woodlands Nursing Home by Joanna Nell is a beautifully tender and entertaining book featuring the hilarious elderly residents.
Acclaimed nature writer, Hattie Bloom is almost ninety and is now temporarily trapped in Woodlands Nursing Home. Having always preferred the company of birds to people, Hattie is doing everything she can to return home to her beloved cottage even though it is falling down around her.
Fellow resident Walter Clements, who feels more like an inmate of the facility than a resident is equally desperate to flee the Nursing Home. All that stands in his way is a dreaded mobility scooter competency test and his doting daughter.
Things start off frosty between the two, but as they spend more time together in the evenings they come to realise that they might just make the perfect partners in crime to really shake things up.
Thoughtfully written and super funny, the perfect escapist read!
