The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig – Our Review

Rachel Gillig has done it again in another gothic fantasy romance. The Knight and the Moth, was everything I love in fantasy and more, a darkly whimsical story that I could not put down. Set in an eerie moonlit world, featuring beautiful world building, with a hauntingly original plot.

Our main character, Sybil Delling, was found as a child when she traded a decade of service for a home in the great Cathedral. Sybil is a prophetess, known as a diviner, she dreams of visions from six unearthly figures known as Omens. From them, she can predict terrible things before they occur.

As she reaches the end of her service her fellow diviners begin to vanish. When a knight offers to help her find her friends in exchange for her help in a quest of his own, Sybil is forced beyond the safety of the Cathedral on an impossible quest to face the Omens that have ruled over the Stonewater kingdom for centuries. Accompanied by a boy-king, a ruthless sharp tongued knight and a peculiar gargoyle, Sybil sets out into the dark alluring kingdom.

The Knight and the Moth felt like reading a dark, romantic fairytale. Rachel Gillig weaves a touch of magic into every page, captivating you from the first page to the brutal, unforgettable ending. I highly recommend making this your next fantasy read.
