The Lamplighters by Emma Stonex – Our Review
A suspenseful read based on the disappearance of three Lighthouse Keepers in 1972 in Cornwall. No trace was ever found, doors locked from the inside and all safety gear intact with all clocks stopped at the same time!
A relative posing as a journalist interviews the widows and relatives and carefully unpicks a heartbreaking tale of isolation, old crimes and secret alliances to the intense anger of the Company who fear reprisals. At times ghostly and surreal this is a great tale with a satisfying ending.
An insight into a way of life long gone and the frailties of loneliness. Cold, bleak and very atmospheric it was a great read for the colder weather, loved it.
