Christian White is truly a master of crime thrillers. Following award winning novels including Nowhere Child, and The Ledge, he continues to raise the bar with his most intense and chilling novel yet, The Long Night.

Em is a young, ambitious screenwriter with a particular love of all things horror. When she’s suddenly kidnapped, her fight to survive becomes more terrifying than anything she’s ever imagined. Jodie is an artist whose dark and haunting paintings are fueled by the shadows of a past she’s tried to keep buried. The night Jodie’s daughter is kidnapped she will stop at nothing to bring her home. Two women, one long night.

It’s not often words on a page can send your heart pounding and have you nervously checking the shadows around you. This is a true testament to White’s talent and exactly how I felt reading The Long Night. This is a haunting nod to the horror genre that is distinctively Australian and a gripping page turner. As always Christian White has delivered.
