The Mermaid Moon by Briony May Smith (Hardback) – Our Review

Our Review…

A delight for slightly older children, this tale of a very special night, the Mermaid Moon that only occurs once a year, will delight all who delve into its enchanting watery depths.

Molly, a land girl and Merrin, a mermaid, are the very best of friends. They share all sorts of adventures together – snorkelling, following pods of whales and searching for sea treasures. Yet each evening they must go their separate ways home… until the night of the Mermaid Moon, when ‘all the sea creatures can swim through the air to explore the human world’.

There is a small catch however, Merrin must be back in the ocean by the time the moon sets, and when Molly falls into danger right on the eve of the moon setting, only Merrin’s quick thinking and a legendary whale can save her.

Become lost with your children in this mesmerising tale of kindness and friendship in this superbly illustrated book by the author – illustrator of the stunning  Margaret’s Unicorn – another absolute favourite of Great Escape Books.
