Our future is in a country under military rule. Ren, oncea succesful farmer is now living in a remote existence, hidden within the towering and inaccessible Tasmanian forests. Her tranquil lifestyle is threatened when the military begin searching for a mythical Rain Heron, a creature that is rumoured to change weather patterns and revive arid areas. Ren is guardian at the foot of the mountain and will risk her life to divert them.
The Rain Heron explores humanity’s struggle with nature, human greed and people who will stop at nothing to gain an advantage. It feels not so far-fetched today, as corporate greed and the exploitation of nature have never been more relevant. A great read and quite plausible in these crazy times.
