Our Review…
Australian crime books have a reputation for featuring the setting as almost another character. And Melbourne author Laura McCluskey’s debut novel does the same – even though this crime thriller is set on a remote Scottish island. Glasgow detectives Georgina Lennox and Richard Stewart are sent to investigate what appears to be the suicide of an 18-year-old local. But things in this isolated community are not what they seem, and the pair find themselves battling the weather, small town distrust and something even darker in their efforts to uncover the truth. The island is a place filled with superstition and shrouded in secrets and the wild, wintry setting adds to the chilling atmosphere. Mystery, myth and most likely murder come together for an intriguing read perfect for the coming colder nights.
