Niko has survived the Balkan war and is an important witness set to testify against what he endured and witnessed. When he realises he is being followed by two men, he flees to what feels like the edge of the world.

The remote Scottish isle, Skarsney, is an atmospheric setting for this political thriller. With its rugged beauty, weather beaten, stormy coastline surrounding a small village rich in character. The locals of the isle are suspicious of Niko to begin with. But when they learn the danger he’s facing and the reason he’s on the run, they don’t hesitate to come to his aid.

While on leave back home in Sydney, Australian war crimes investigator Anita, is alerted that her key witness has disappeared. Forced to abandon her family priorities, she enters a race against time to find Niko before the wrong people reach him first.

Ian Kemish is a former diplomat,  High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, and International Adviser to the then Prime Minister. He is a true master storyteller, capturing complicated characters and the deep inner conflicts that war leaves behind.
