Our Review…

Shortlisted for The Stella Prize, Witness by Louise Milligan is a stark, eye opening and timely expose into the legal system in Australia.

Milligan speaks to and brings voice to the victims of the judicial system and exposes the power imbalance that maims them in their quest for justice. From victims of unimaginable child sexual abuse, to high profile rape cases and even to those that defend the accused in a court of law.

This is a brilliant snapshot into the injustice and additional trauma that is often heaped on victims in the Australian court system as they simply strive for justice.

Milligan speaks to a wide cross-section of men and women in her book to get to the heart of the crisis including the legal profession that defend those accused to truly understand.

A must read for everyone, a brilliant book to get to the heart of our societal issues and just perfectly terrifying to discuss with your teenagers or young adults.
