Hannie Rayson and Michael Cathcart in conversation: 13th February 2010

Great Escape Books was delighted to host Hannie Rayson and Michael Cathcart in conversationon the evening of Saturday February 13th 2010 at the bookshop.

Multi-award winning playwright Hannie Rayson and her husband, the historian and ABC broadcaster Michael Cathcart, were in conversation at Great Escape Books, discussing life and literature while living and writing under the same roof.

This was a very special event,  with the January 2010 opening of Hannie’s fabulous new play, The Swimming Club being performed by The Melbourne Theatre Company and the release of Michael’s latest book, The Water Dreamers, which has been met with great critical acclaim.

With a packed out crowd,  Hannie and Michael regaled the crowd with both humorous and in depth analysis of the very different ways in which they write and source their inspiration. It was a truly wonderful and illuminating evening.

One comment from the audience afterwards which summed up the vibe of evening perfectly was ‘ what a fab couple!’ Cath Peake.
