Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro – Our Review
KAZUO ISHIGURO is the renowned author of Remains of the Day and Never Let Me Go and Nobel Prize Winner.
Klara is an ‘AF’- Artificial Friend and like others of her kind, she waits to be purchased. Mother brings Josie in and it’s a match, Klara has a home. It’s apparent that Josie is very ill and requires round the clock assistance which Klara gives with heartbreaking kindness. Very quickly the story veers as very sinister plans emerge for both Klara and Josie.
This novel questions humanity and its treatment of other life forms, exploitation and greed predominant as always, shocks along the way but confronting, heartbreaking and an emotional read leaving you with plenty to digest. Loved it!
